Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) based automation is an outcome of the need for modern industrial environments to be steered by the latest technological advancements in computers and communication. The main objective of this course is to equip you with knowledge and skills that enable you to work effectively in the modern industrial environments as technicians, technologists, or engineers.
This course is taught based on programming Allen Bradley RSLogix500. Participants will use an emulator to simulate PLC and sensor function with the option of purchasing a PLC kit for a more hands on experience.
At the completion of this course, participants will mainly be able to:
- Design and implement PLC based industrial Automation systems;
- Select and integrate sensors into PLC systems;
- Use pneumatic and electromechanical systems to control industrial processes.
This course is divided into the following modules:
Introduction to PLC Programming
This module covers an introduction to PLC programming, PLC Addressing, I/O modules and basic PLC wiring. It also covers the introduction to LogixPro the simulation software used in the courses.
Inputs and Outputs
This module deals with introduction to relay ladder logic, digital inputs and outputs, and motor control.
Timers and Counters
This module covers timers and counters.
Math Instructions
This modules covers math instructions and compare instructions.
Advanced PLC Programming
This module covers program control instructions as well as sequential process control.
Note: All courses MUST be completed within a 3 month period to obtain certification and avoid being withdrawn from the course
